I hate myspace and I do everything I can to avoid linking to myspace sites. Sometimes it can’t be helped though. Amsterdam’s Pfaff have a new out in a couple of weeks. I loved the last one, Berliner Blick, so I find myself looking forward to it. But the only way to hear some free samples at the moment is through myspace, so go here.
Here’s what I wrote about them recently…
Live shows from Amsterdam underground rock act Pfaff always keep you guessing. Over the years the band has continually morphed, starting in a more traditional rock arrangement, switching to two drummers with one guitar, and more recently moving over to main man Bas Jacobs–formerly of Seedling–playing drums and singing/wailing, whilst jamming with pre-recorded guitar parts on his Loop Station. But even that’s not a foregone conclusion and each show can focus on a new aspect of performance. The last Pfaff album Berliner Blick was one of the most fun Dutch releases of 2004, filled with indie-rock rage and good humour, all packed into a manic 16 minutes. Now his new disc How to Explain De Flipstand to a Friend–incidentally recorded as a duo–will be available in the next week or two, and Jacobs promises that it is still alive with punky energy, but will also offer some oddball moments.
myspac is officially an internet epidemic. It makes it to top 10 internet destination, competing agianst ebay, google, msn, and things like that. So you can imagine the size/popularity.
ugh… but than again, it seems to give artists space to start linking each other. that’s not bad.
