Previously confirmed to play Rotown on March 2, wee Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro are also scheduled in at Paradiso on March 3. After years of touring the UK it will be interesting to see them taking some proper baby steps out into the real Europe.

I hadn't heard of the band Sweet Assembler until today, when I got an email asking me to mention a couple of upcoming Belgian dates. Well those are...
April 1 - Den Overkant - Menen
April 2 - De Bierpompe - Wervik
I still don't know much about the band as their site is lacking a biography currently. Apparently Oor likes them, but not letting that put me off, I had a listen through their online media player and found it fairly impressive. For quick links, there are a couple of tracks here and here, but I really recommend checking out the proper media player for more options. Sounds like their next album could be quite interesting.
I also got an email a few days ago from my friend Wouter Touw announcing his departure from Audiotransparent. I was pretty sad about this with them being one of my favourite Dutch bands. But the band will go on, and hopefully Wouter will also find a new musical role sometime in the future.

It was quite a surprise today to discover that Jeniferever are playing in Utrecht at DBs tonight. It's not a greatly promoted concert, but if you're in the area it's well worth heading out to see them.
It's an interesting night in Amsterdam tomorrow also, with Victory At Sea and Soda P performing at OCCI. They're well worth checking out, but with the The Go! Team playing at Melkweg, another option is to hold off for Victory At Sea until Club Funday at Patronaat on February 6.
The Go! Team of course are a little bit hyped in the UK, but their album Thunder, Lightning, Strike was a very pleasant surprise in 2004.

Creaking back to life after a Christmas break, the gig guide has been revitalised. While lots of Dutch and Belgian bands seem to be making the most of the winter with CD presentations and endless gigging - well they have to given that they bugger off on holiday during the summer - Mezz in Breda seem to be feeling a tad retro with performances by the Spin Doctors and the Presidents of the United States of America.
