Amit Erez is a singer/songwriter originally from Israel who now finds himself living in Rotterdam. Before heading here to the land of the nether, though, he released an album of home recordings titled Wish I Could Make it a Story, as well as a more produced-sounding single called ‘The Trickster Waterfall’. In terms of style, Amit can’t be tied to one sound, however, he openly declares influences from Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell as a starting point.
From his website you can download two full-length samples. ‘Evening Sun’ is perhaps a more difficult introduction to the world of Amit, although, it just needs some time to grow on you. ‘Cinnamon Scattered Along Your Shoulders’ on the other hand is a fun acoustic pop song which shares its simplicity with The Beatles’ classic songwriting. Even as a basic recording, it’s quite endearing and shows the potential of a new musician to the Dutch scene.
