You’ve no idea how long I’ve been waiting to recommend Cakekitchen and their songwriter Graham Jefferies here on Stayfun. As a long standing part of the New Zealand indie scene, his vocal style is nothing short of unique, but on top of that, his songwriting ability is astounding. He's a genuine master of the indie-pop chorus.
Yet despite having discovered How Can You Be So Blind? too long after its release date to fit in a review, it’s been one of the best albums I’ve heard in the past year that I haven’t been able to praise. This led to hours of MP3 searching to try and promote the album, only with no reward. Then today the sun shone down from Insound.
Okay, so ‘Gold Neon Moon’ isn’t the song I’d have chosen to sell the album but it’s a start. Download it and learn to love the Cakekitchen.
