Catherine O'Halloran Band

The Catherine O’Halloran Band are a fairly new group of musicians which seems to have come together in the Scottish music scene quite rapidly over the last six months. And without too much scheming, things seem to be falling in place for them. A bunch of songs were recorded, and gigs around the world have followed, which is a pretty impressive start, as far as humble beginnings go.

Which is all very good, but it’s the music that’s most important, and to be honest, this is the hardest part to pin down about The Catherine O’Halloran Band. Varying from simple folk efforts to more worldly influences, the arrangements swing between completely sparse to upbeat acoustic, all the while creating a backdrop for the dominating yet soothing voice of Catherine O’Halloran.

Their musical abilities clearly aren’t in question, and they’ve already demonstrated worthy songwriting adeptness too, which you can discover via their website where you can currently access nine full MP3s. The sounds are diverse but worth checking out (especially since it’s not costing you anything), so start with ‘Mrs Bush’ and move on from there.
