How it took me so long to discover Deerhoof I’m not quite sure. It’s only their recent tour in Europe that brought them to prominence in my mind and forced me to seek out something a bit more substantial than the mumbled thoughts in my head that were continually confusing them with The Decemberists.
And thank god I did, for it led me to the MP3 of ‘Milk Man’ from the album of the same name. Now that’s a fun trip. Twisty and perplexing, you never know what’s going to come up next. The formula is simple enough, yet somehow they always keep you guessing. It makes me happy every time, and what more can you ask from a song?
