I am not exactly sure how I’ve managed to avoid the existence of Homescience over the past few years. Given that they’re from Edinburgh and already onto their third album it’s hard to believe, but that’s the breaks sometimes, and at least I’ve caught up now.
Jungling is their latest release by the good people of Track and Field, but available on their website is the solitary random mp3 of ‘Wooden Cross’, which ambles along slowly with loose harmonies and a country vibe. It’s probably not the definitive sound of Homescience, which seems to stretch into more upbeat forms of indie pop, but it’s a pleasing song and a nice starting point for a new adventure.
