lampshade

Lampshade released their debut album Because Trees Can Fly last year in Scandinavia. Although still sharing a much smaller profile outside of their native countries Sweden and Denmark, the music alone seems quite special, and an upcoming tour of the Netherlands, as well as more persistent touring throughout Europe is going to make them harder to avoid.

With a crescendo of fuzzy noise, Lampshade prove themselves capable of composing impressive post-rock, yet when the noise dips majestically, there at the centre is the voice of rebekkamarie, cutting through in complete clarity, and adding a sweet innocence to the sound. The perfect example of this is on ‘Treasure Is’, available from their website. With its low-end fuzz and rhythms, the lovely vocals come along and tie up the complete parcel with a shiny bow.
