To start honestly, I don’t know much about My Latest Novel yet. They live in an enclosed happy world deep inside their own minds, and I get the impression that they only become sentient for a mere 15 minutes per day after a selection of large pills. At least that’s what I gather from their website.
What is apparent is that they are from Scotland, there are a bunch of them standing around idly at times wondering what they’re doing, there are too many drums in the band for one stage to handle, and most importantly they have an audio sample which claws away from my cloudy description and sounds absolutely lovely. It’s relaxed, sunshine indie-pop with delicious multipart harmonies, sweet lyrics and lovely instrumentation. Admittedly the song then cuts off a tad abruptly, but for three minutes ‘Sister Sneaker, Sister Soul’ sucks you into the happy place along with them.
