The One AM Radio

The One AM Radio is a dreamy indie-pop project which originated at Yale University, led by Hrishikesh Hirway with contributions from violinist Jane Yakowitz. Just from checking out their website, you can hear a bunch of tracks demonstrating how strong their songwriting ability and sound really is. From the extremely cool free internet release of An Assembly, to the sample tracks from last album The Hum of the Electric Air, there is so much loveliness to embrace even before owning any of the records or EPs.

However, the track I want to highlight is the demo version of ‘The Landmine’. It’s astoundingly pretty, with wistful vocals layered over a gentle guitar riff, while having swirling violin patterns surround it. All of The One AM Radio tracks are a pleasure to listen to, but this one just stands out as something extra special, and with Hrishikesh heading to Europe for a tour in March, every effort should be made to see them live and buy some music in support.

The Dutch date is taking place at Utrecht’s ACU on March 5.
