onelinedrawing by Tim Owen

You can love or hate Onelinedrawing, but it’s much easier to love them. In fact, it takes a real cynic to hate them simply because of the good feelings the music generates in people. Anyone who’s ever experienced the openness and sincerity of the Jonah Matranga live performance could never muster that much cynicism, though - be it with his old band Far, recent band New End Original, or the ongoing Onelinedrawing, which is sometimes acoustic, sometimes rock, and just isn’t willing to conform to any boundaries.

And now there is the latest release from that project, The Volunteers. Released by Jade Tree on March 22, it features twelve new songs, although, the CD also includes bonus CD-Rom segments including demos in MP3 format and additional digital liner notes.

As a taster, the song ‘We Had a Deal’ is available on the Jade Tree site, showing a rockier OLD than in the past, and making the most of a massive chorus. The project will always be tied in with the emo scene, but the music disagrees with such simplistic genre pegging, and at its heart, it’s just a passionate and energetic rock song worth losing yourself in.
