New Zealand’s Phoenix Foundation are gradually worming their way around the Southern Hemisphere. Signed to Capital Records in their home country, their debut release is soon to be available in Australia via Remote Control, and who knows, maybe a European release will happen eventually too. Anyway, since last year I’ve read countless great reviews for this band and their album Horsepower, proclaiming them to be one of NZ’s finest currently, and now I have finally tracked down some MP3 audio to recommend.
Thankfully not disappointing me, ‘Lambs’ is a lovely track. Moving along at a snail's pace, the song is dominated by its atmosphere and dark mood. The production is very clear and smart, and in style it also has a lot in common with various bands currently existing in the Dutch underground, so maybe it’s time for everyone to head south.
