At the end of last year, Seachange made their introduction to Matador Records via the EP Glitterball. Well March 8 signals the release of their full-length album, Lay of the Land, and if the MP3s available online are anything to go by, then it’s looking pretty positive for them.
‘News From Nowhere’ is the main pick and demonstrates some discordant indie-rock
in the style of Seafood, if a little less jagged. It’s a strong sample, and
the swirling violin above the guitars really helps to add extra edge and capture
your attention. No doubt 2004 is going to be a big year of touring for this
lot too, so they’re a band to look out for when they come around.
