Sleater-Kinney

In the early '90s there was a band called Bikini Kill. It was a chaotic feministic band that started the riot grrrl movement almost on their own. The riot grrrls were sick of all the boys in rock and came up with an alternative (only-girls shows, political engagement,...). I think Bikini Kill are better known for their reputation than for their music. But anyway, without Bikini Kill there wouldn't have been any Sleater-Kinney.

Sleater-Kinney are three girls that contributed also to the movement, a few years later. Their music is kinda wirey indie, with all the girls singing and shouting their (sometimes) political messages. It took me a few times to get used to the songs and the voices but now I only need the first few seconds to feel delighted.

This song 'Get Up' is from their 4th album The Hot Rock from 1999. I've only got that one and some free songs, but I'm saving my money for other Sleater- Kinney stuff. You should do that too you know.
