Thee Moths is pretty much a one-man band right now, but it wasn’t always like that, and it probably won’t always be in the future. Instead of being tied to the same people and the same ideas, the line-up remains fluid, enabling the sound and songs of Thee Moths to evolve into new concepts over time.
Last year during their period as a two-piece, they released one of the most unique albums of the summer, which was the vinyl-only A Small Glass Ghost, consisting of two halves, each in turn split into “parts” rather than separate songs. As a whole, it was a lovely lo-fi adventure, but for those who missed out, online samples are available online.
‘The Cooling of Lightbulbs Pt. 2’ was perhaps one of the most commercial
and uptempo moments of the entire album. Buzzing along on a rumbling fuzz
bass with the boy/girl vocals sitting on top, Thee Moths finally gave in to
a need to distort guitars and rock out, even if it was for less than three
minutes. Perhaps it's not the perfect representation of the band, but it's
a fun starting point.
